Abstract

The mangrove forest area in Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya is used by the local community for capture fisheries activities, especially catching fish and shrimp. This study aims to determine the condition of the mangrove ecosystem and fishery activities in Rawa Mekar Jaya Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted in October-November 2021. Primary data collection was carried out in the field, including mangrove measurements and interviews of fisheries activities. The results showed that the condition of the mangrove ecosystem in Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya was relatively good. The types of fish obtained are also still diverse. Some fish there are freshwater fish, namely Tapah fish, Bujuk fish, Lembat fish, Pantau fish, Sepat fish, Gabus fish, Seluang fish, and Baung fish. In comparison, the seawater fish are Sembilang fish, Duri fish, and Sebelah fish. Other biotas around the mangrove ecosystem are Lokan and Giant prawns. The existence of the mangrove ecosystem positively influences the capture fisheries in Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya.
